Inland Article 13 Treaty Rights - 2007 Consent Decree
The following documents were developed during 2+ years of negotiations between 5 Michigan Indian Tribes, the Federal Government, the State of Michigan and several Amicii groups. As a member of the Coalition to Protect Michigan's Resources, the Walloon Lake Trust and Conservancy participated in the negotiation process.
On November 2, 2007, Judge Enseln signed and entered the Consent Decree in Federal Court in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Consent Decree has no expiration date and is intended to define the scope of existing treaty rights for those tribes involved in the original 1836 Treaty.
