Why Every Wallooner Should Become a Member
- To protect all that makes Walloon unique, through your support of, and participation in, the Trust's Land Preservation Programs, designed to preserve wildlife, viewscapes and flora and fauna within Walloon's watershed, by limiting uncontrolled development.
- To protect the water quality of the lake through your support of Association water quality studies (such as shoreline cladophora surveys to detect sources of water pollution) and dissolved oxygen monitoring, and to identify and combat future threats to the environment of the lake and its watershed, such as swimmer's itch and the Zebra Mussel.
- To protect the environment of the lake through your support of the development and enforcement of zoning, in cooperation with the 2 counties and 5 townships that surround Walloon Lake.
- To be listed in the annual membership directory, which includes names, summer and winter addresses, and telephone numbers of all members plus other helpful information. Available only to members.
- To receive The Wallooner, with its six issues annually of interesting and informative articles about what is going on around the lake. Available only to members.
- To assure safety on the lake through safety programs conducted in cooperation with local sheriffs' and fire departments. The Safety Committee is also responsible for installing the Association's lighted navigational buoys.
- To participate in the camaraderie of Walloon living by becoming involved with the Association and the Walloon Lake Trust and Conservancy, including the annual Celebrate Walloon festivities and by participating in the Association's educational activities.
- To protect your investment on the lake. The larger the Association's membership, the more clout it will have in keeping the lake clean, safe, enjoyable and free from undesirable development.
